Continuing with the Panama Carnavales spirit, I’m bringing you some information about the way I spent Carnavales.

Carnavales Panama

Friday night I got all my things ready to go to the Central Provinces. This year I decided to go to a place not very famous for its Carnivals, but known for the warmth of its people – Ocu. Turned out, Ocu’s carnivals have been getting bigger and better each year. I would have never thought it would be such wild party.

Carnavales Panama

Full of drinks, tons of wild parties and many, many hot Panama girls, the Carnavales in Ocu are one to remember forever. During the day people would gather around Calle Centro (Central Street), jump, scream and party while they were getting wet with the water from the trucks. At night, some people would stay in Central Street while others would go to the wild party in any of the “mobile” night clubs and local night clubs such as El Viva Panama or El Parking (Panama City trendy night club – PEOPLE).

Carnavales Panama

In summary, Ocu is the location for a tremendous wild party that I totally recommend for your next year Carnival’s celebrations. There’s no need to cry, though carnivals are over, this is just the beginning of this year’s Panama festivities so sit tight and wait to find out more about Panama holidays and wild parties. For more info about Ocu’s Carnivals, visit the town’s webpage: http://paelpueblo.com/.

As a follow up to my previous article (please read DUBAI – the new party era has begun) I’m going to tell you how everything turned out at the DUBAI night club.

I’m sure the owners and the promoters were happy because DUBAI turned out to be a total success! Since day one, not another single soul fitted inside this new Panama City, Panama night club but the party lovers’ sure partied outside the club! They didn’t care; not even the rain could stop the party connoisseurs from enjoying this wild party night!

On the opening day owners, promoters and staff were going crazy since early in the morning to ensure that this turned out the way they had planned. All of their efforts surely paid off; though people didn’t start to show up until late at night once the first ones started arriving, everyone else did too! From celebrities to regular people, everyone sure had a blast! Who wouldn’t? DUBAI really made it big with a 3 day party celebration which included performances from top Panama artists LOS RABANES and the ROOKIE.

The night club is really nice inside; with a two story level, a bar area, and a table area, they offer a wide variety of music, drinks and lots of lights for everyone’s likes so you will surely spend a great night at DUBAI. Cover charges and drinks have a very accessible price, but if you want to walk in with the elite of the club, feel free to contact one their promoters Diego Villarreal (who kindly offered to Party in Panama to put down his name as a contact). As of my luck, I could only go on Saturday, but it sure made up for the rest of the events because, of course, the ROOKIE show rocked the house and made it all worth it!

In summary, if you are looking for an endless Panama wild party for the best value, you should definitely try DUBAI! My friends and I really enjoyed the party that went all night long; but then again, you are the one who sets the mood!

For more information, don’t hesitate to contact Party in Panama!

Istmo is known in Panama City, Panama because it brews its own beers! These beers are named after some of the Provinces of Panama: Coclé, Chiriquí, Colón and Veraguas. These beers are very tasty and with different alcohol percentage from 4.5% to 6% so you have a wide variety to choose from, though I noticed they don’t serve any other national beers.

When we first walked in I wanted to check out the interior; it is very cozy and relaxed. Then my friends and I chose to sit outside while we waited for a waiter come help us. One of my friends – who have been there before – told the waiter we were knew there and then he brought us complimentary samples of the beers. He placed them on top of an explanatory sheet which describes the kind of beer and then he mentioned the percentage of alcohol in each beer.

We ended up choosing Coclé beer which has been modified and now – according to the waiter – has been improved and has more alcohol than the other beers; we also liked Chiriqui beer but Cocle has a better taste, like an Irish beer taste so we went for it! Istmo menu also includes a variety of entrées, appetizers and sandwiches, some of which are also named after the Provinces of Panama.

Istmo is located at Ave. Eusebio A. Morales and Via Veneto in El Cangrejo, Panama City, Panama. In general, Istmo is a nice way to get away from the usual pickup scene! Their prices are very accessible and their service is good!

If you are in need of a time out from the dance and drink scene and want to do something a bit different, you will like to know that Panama has lots of cultural life.  Not only we are party, live music and dance performances, but we also have excellent actors and actresses.   Last Sunday, I went to Aba Theater with a group of girl friends to watch the production “Gentlemen Prefer Them Naughty”, a very funny comedy under the direction of Baby Torrijos.  12 actors are in scene and this comedy has all the ingredients to keep you laughing the entire show: a wild girl, naughty Pepito (you are going to love this character), sexual tension, the sexy girl, drama, drama and more drama!  I am not going to tell you the story line that is something you need to discover by yourself.

AuraThe sexy Panamanian actress Aurea Horta is participating in this play with a double role, and also the rename actors Juan Manuel Ferrer, Carlos Caballero,  Luis Gustavo Macías, Masha Armuelles, Yiniva Cárdenas, Hugo Rodríguez, Carlos Quintana, Eladio Aguilar, Idania Ceville, Abdiel Tapia y Mónica Miguel.

This is the longest theatre season for a play in Panama’s history with 69 presentations.  “Gentlemen Prefer Them Naughty ” will be in scene until November 30th in the Aba Theatre, located in Transistmica almost next to TVN.  Functions are Monday through Friday at 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 4, 6, and 8pm.

Don’t miss this play!

“La Terraza” or The Terrace for its English translation is a bar located on the famous Via Veneto in Panama City, Panama. Via Veneto is known because of the Hotel & Casino Veneto where a lot of locals and tourists go to party and to meet beautiful, sexy, wild Panama girls. There are a lot of places to party there, but last weekend I went to The Terrace. As I said, it is located at the end of Via Veneto close to Via España. The Terrace is a bar owned by a foreigner who never thought of having a business in Panama City, Panama, but that loved the place so much it didn’t want it to close. The Terrace has moved to many different places, but now is back to Via Veneto where Unplugged (a night club) used to be.

Even though it is not a huge place, I felt cozy and welcome as soon as I walked in. A person, whom I’m not sure if it’s the owner, welcomed me and my friends to the place. There are tables and chairs surrounding the bar area; further inside there’s a pool table and there are tables close to the sidewalk where you can smoke freely. The music is varied and a little after we arrived a nice gentleman started playing and singing live music with his guitar. It was awesome! This was a nice way to enjoy a couple of drinks with my friends, hang out without having to be in an overcrowded place, and enjoy some live music. Go to now The Terrace now, I’m sure it will soon become a new trendy spot in Panama City, Panama!

This was going to be my first patriotic party celebration after 4 years of not being in Panama. I was very excited that after such a long time I was going to be able to go out to the streets to watch the schools and their respective bands participate in the patriotic parades… for my misfortune, I got sick on October 31st. I couldn’t even celebrate Halloween! I got stuck in my apartment all the time without being able to do anything. I couldn’t believe that after such a long wait I couldn’t even prepare my plastic bottle filled with “seco” – Panama hard liquor and coca cola that I was going to drink (secretly) while I was going to see the parades on the street. I got pretty upset, but like everyone says “things happen for a reason”.

Fiestas PatriasAnd just like that, I was right. Even though I couldn’t drink, I got to watch the parades on the local TV channels with a glass of milk (yeah, I wasn’t feeling good of my stomach). It brought me a lot of nostalgia to see those young people play their musical instruments, to see the baton twirlers and marching troops march to the rhythm of the music and giving their all to represent their corresponding schools, and official and independent entities.

But it brought me way much more nostalgia to watch on the news all the violence generated during this festivity that is supposed to be of celebration and a party, not of death and slamming. What a pity that during one of the most important days for our country Panama we have to go through the humiliation and the pain of being witnesses to more violence. It’s a shame that we still have to talk about the “dianas” or reveille causing chaos, attracting more violence and tarnishing Panama City good name.

In spite that in this 105th Independence anniversary Panama City had used the slogan “Ciudad de Panama – una gran ciudad” or “Panama City – a great city” in English people has come to question if Panama City truly is a great city. Certainly not everyone is involved in this unacceptable behavior but, what else can we expect? When would the Panama that we all want finally come to reality? How much longer do we have to wait to be able to enjoy a patriotic party worthy of this beautiful nation? When would the day come that we can really see and feel the change? I hope it will be soon, because this is a beautiful country that deserves to be known for the amazing nature that it carries and the economic potential that it has, not like a city of violence and strife. Let’s hope that November 10th will not be celebrated this way… Viva Panama!

Are you ready to party?

Panama MarchaWell, this is the perfect time for you to do so. With Panama Independence Day right around the corner, there will be nothing that will beat Panama City party. Yes, this is one of many great events that Panama people look forward to throughout the entire year. A lot of wild girls in Panama City come out from their houses and stand by the streets to see Panama schools and colleges marching with their amazing music bands. Students, professors and free souls practice all year long to bring out their best repertoire of music and show which band/school is the best.

Let me give you a little history lesson. On November 3, 1903 Panama declared its independence from Colombia. Knowing that we were going to be independent from Colombia, Maria Ossa de Amador created the flag that was going to represent us as an independent country. November 4 was declared Panama Flag Day.Panama Marcha 2

November is actually Panama most festive month. So this is the month to really get the party started! Wild Panama girls, loads of drinks, tons of music, and the greatest fun you’ll ever experience is what you will get this entire month! During the day you will have all the Panama people on the streets watching the different parades and schools marching, and at night is a non-stop party in all the Panama City bars, night clubs and mobile night clubs such as the famous PH or Planeta Balboa.  Come and celebrate Panama 105th anniversary!

Major Panama festivities on November:

  • November 2nd: All Souls’ Day or Day of the Dead
  • November 3rd: Panama Independence from Colombia
  • November 4th: Panama Flag Day
  • November 5th: Colon’s Day
  • November 10th: “Primer Grito de Independencia de la Villa de los Santos” The uprise in the Villa de los Santos against Spain.
  • November 28th: Panama Separation from Spain.

The year is almost gone, but one thing that will never stop is the party in Panama City, Panama. Prove of that is the great year Panama has had. Irving Saladino brought the very first Olympic gold medal to Panama and is the first man to have ever won an Olympic gold medal in Central America!

Besides Saladino’s triumph, Margarita Henriquez also made Panamanian people proud by representing us in the Latin American Idol contest where she was crowned the new Latin American Idol. Along with her, 2 other Panamanian singers: Manuel Araúz (5th finalist) and Anne Lorraine showed to all Latin America that Panama is full of talent and good people.

Panamanian people are known for their warmth and happiness everywhere we go. We are the kind people that take someone else’s victory or lost as our own. At Panama City, Panama you’ll always find everyone in a party when someone like Henriquez or Saladino represents Panama so well. The party is not just in one place but in the whole city, making everyone drink, sings and dance all night long. A very good example of this is when Margarita won Latin American Idol. All Panamanian people where very happy and went to the streets to honk their horns in celebration of our new winner. Margarita arrived last Monday October 13th and was received by no others than the presidential couple. What an honor! She was then escorted to TVN where a concert was held with a lot of other Panamanian artists who were there to show her how proud we are of her!

As you can see, the people in Panama City, Panama don’t waste time to party! For us, there’s always a reason to party no matter what the occasion is. It doesn’t matter if someone wins or loses, what matter to us is that we are being represented outside our country and other people is getting to know our broad culture. Of course, we won’t complaint if they bring the title along the way! J Thank you to all for representing Panama! We love them and you’ll love our culture because of many reasons and among them, because Panama is the best place to party all year long!
